Muxponders – Putting More on Your CWDM/DWDM Network - Sponsored Whitepaper

Muxponders offer service providers a more efficient use of wavelengths on CWDM and DWDM systems. Muxponders multiplex lower rate signals into a higher line rate. For example, a muxponder would multiplex four OC-48 client rates into an OC-192 line rate or eight GbE client rates into a 10 Gb/s line rate. This would provide a 4:1 or 8:1 efficiency gain in fiber or wavelength utilization in the examples above, respectively, allowing service providers to better utilize their fibers or wavelengths on a CWDM or DWDM system.
