Wireless Network Services Product Reviews

The implementation of the 4G network brings relief to small town and rural areas

Only 38 percent of rural American households have high-speed Internet capabilities due to the lack of infrastructure for land-based broadband networks. Why? The cost to build these networks is too high and the number of potential customers is too low. Companies like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon don’t see a profit within these smaller communities. While the lack of high-speed Internet definitely feels like an inconvenience, it is actually detrimental to these area businesses, who are trying to keep up with big city vendors.

The implementation of the 4G network will hopefully alleviate this information gap by reaching the far corners of the network. Since the spectrum is in a low frequency, signals travel over greater distances and through obstacles, key to reaching rural areas. While intended to boost m2m service, the 4G network undoubtedly benefits the American population.

Tony Melone, senior vice president and chief technology officer for Verizon Wireless, said “that the new 4G network that the company is building will blanket the entire continental United States, including the far corners of rural America.”

Best-in-Class Wireless Network Services:

  • Network would be IP based with digital switches and higher bandwidths for inexpensive data transfers
  • Tighter network security interfaces
  • Ability to support interactive services such as video conferencing based on a wider bandwidth

Top Considerations before buying Wireless Network Services:
Implementation to replace the 3G or SuperG networks has begun with the 4G deployment this year. The key is integrating 4G capabilities with all current and existing mobile technologies in a seamless manner.

Key Providers:
1. Consider KORE Telematics Integration Services when VPN service deployment is required. KORE strives to be an industry leader in implementation time in order to get customers online in a quick and efficient manner. Once online, transmissions are secure due to an IPSec encryption connecting your business through a tunnel directly to KORE SMS Gateway. Once M2M communication paths are established, entrust that all IP addresses remain a part of your particular configuration for long term deployment.

2. For your system’s hardware, Telmar Network Technologies provides Global Network  Support for a multitude of vendors. With over 70,000 SKUs repaired in house and tested at the repair facility, providers can trust extensive management and warranty of services for all network assets. Critical technical assistance is offered to clients 24/7 for comprehensive support.

3. The GSM/GPRS/EDGE Technology Module under the Mentum Planet umbrella works to optimize multi-band and multi-technology networks. GSM network expansions for coverage are easily designed and deployed through a single interface while frequency plans for existing networks are continued to be monitored. This comprehensive system has capability to identify and manage indoor coverage issues and manage refarming existing GSM networks for the shift toward 3G/4G networks.

4. DragonWave Inc.’s Cellular Network Evolution provides service for existing base stations looking to converge to the TDM and IP service network. A 50 ms intelligent nodal mesh/ring switching provides the levels necessary for high-availability cellular backhaul. This comprehensive solution comfortably allows the evolution of TDM backhaul from #G base stations to emerging 4G services. Other features include seamless equipment integration, and scalable bandwidth up to 4G per link.

PCI: The End of the Walk Around Wireless Audit
AirTight Networks
Even if Wi-Fi is not deployed, PCI requires a quarterly wireless security audit of the card holder environment to identify unauthorized Wi-Fi that may jeopardize the security of credit card data. Traditionally, these wireless security audits have been conducted as an onsite activity, walking around with a handheld device sniffing wireless data over-the-air. This "point in time" technique is ...

The Successful Design and Marketing of a Rural Wireless Broadband Network
EDX Wireless LLC
The design of a rural wireless broadband network presents its own set of challenges that differ in significant ways from network design for urban areas. In addition to covering unserved and underserved locations with sufficient signal as cost effectively as possible, a means of accurately assessing which of these users will be able to successfully subscribe to the network is also critical for ...
